Consulting that starts with the audience

Green Thoughts Consulting works by the Define–Design–Traffic–Convert method (DDTC): four phases, in order, that take a business from an audience it can name to customers it can count. Consulting is where the method begins and where most of our ongoing client work lives.

We consult on tricky situations: a rebuild or migration that has to keep its rankings, a site that stopped converting, a product launch with no go-to-market plan, a practice that wants to be found in AI answers, a firm that suspects a process could be automated and wants to know where. The clients are usually law firms, medical practices and established businesses with several employees, owners who want a plan they understand and a person they can call.

The work is technical and we do it well. We are not the fastest or lowest-priced option; we are the one that tells you what is happening every month.

Define–Design–Traffic–Convert method (DDTC)

Each phase of the DDTC Method hands the next something concrete: Define hands Design a named audience and its words, Design hands Traffic a site built for them, Traffic hands Convert the right visitors, and Convert hands back the numbers that say whether it worked.

  1. Define

Define names the ideal customer precisely: who they are and who they are not, where they live online, what they want, what repels them, and the exact words they use for both.

Most marketing fails here, quietly. Define is audience work: psychographics and numbers, the places this kind of person actually spends time online, and the language they use when they describe what they want and what they dislike. We feed that language back to them in everything that follows. Go-to-market consulting lives in this phase.

  2. Design

Design builds the website, app or environment for those specific people, with them in mind on every page.

A site designed for a named audience looks different from a site designed to impress its owner. Custom web design and the structure of the content both come out of what Define found.

  3. Traffic

Traffic gets that kind of person to the thing built for them, search first.

Technical SEO, the content that earns citations in search and AI answers, and the listings that have to be right. Paid search case by case, never as the plan.

  4. Convert

Convert gets them to take the action, and measures whether they did.

Forms, calls, bookings, purchases; conversion work on the pages, the integrations behind them, and the measurement that says what happened. Custom development and process or AI work often lands here.

Engagements

Rebuilds and migrations that must keep rankings

A site that ranks is an asset, and a rebuild can quietly destroy it. We map every URL that earns traffic, decide what moves where, set the redirects and the technical foundation before launch, and watch search for weeks afterward. The new site is designed from Define, so it earns more than it keeps.

Go-to-market

A launch with no go-to-market plan is a tricky situation we work on often. Go-to-market consulting lives in the Define phase: who the buyer is and is not, where they spend time online, the words they use for what they want and what repels them, and what the first channel should be. The plan says what to build and what to leave alone.

Process and AI integration

Discovery first, then build or oversee. We start by mapping the process as it runs today, pricing what it costs, and naming where automation or an AI step would save money without breaking what works. Jeff built an agentic system that produces finished client websites, so he has done this on his own process before proposing it for yours. He is an accountant by training who can put a number on a saved process, and holds an MA in Organizational Psychology, which matters when a new system has to be adopted by the people already doing the job.

Audits

A technical SEO audit is available as a one-off project: crawl, indexing, structure, speed, and the gap between what you publish and what your audience searches for. We list it here rather than lead with it, because an audit without a plan to act on it is just a document.

What consulting costs

Ongoing consulting retainers start at $1,500 a month with a six-month minimum.

Hosting, maintenance and support plans, and Local SEO programs are separate services priced on their own, not part of a consulting retainer. One-off audits and builds are scoped as projects.

Ongoing consulting means working directly with Jeff, and it is priced accordingly: direct working time with him is what the larger retainers include. Every client at every level gets a real person who answers, knows what is happening, and a monthly follow-up.
